East End - Portland, OR
BarFly's Review of East End:
"Owned and operated by old school Portlanders, East End is finally using the former Noir/Rabbit Hole space to its full capacity. Restaurant on the top level, with some killer shows in the cramped basement. When not quaffing drinks and nodding their heads, the mixed crowd of burgeoning young scene makers and vintage rockers hold court in the notoriously long restroom lines." -Strack
Last Chance Records
Last Chance was started because we were frustrated seeing so many good live shows by local bands, yet these bands couldn't afford to put out a record or CD. So we thought if we pooled some money, and had a bunch of bands chip in, we could put out a decent compilation that would be the equivalent twelve singles on one CD; thus, the LAST CHANCE IN PORTLAND CD was born in January 1997. We like Rock, Punk, Rockabilly, and some Pop. You can send us your CD's but we probably will not put them out. Last Chance PO Box 42396 Portland, OR 97242

O'Malley's Saloon & Grill Map
Great local bar, they do shows sporadically. A great place, where you will be treated very well.
O'Malley's Saloon & Grill - Portland, OR
BarFly's Review of O'Malley's
There are similarly-styled bars every third corner of southeast, but everything about this comfy, expansive neighborhood bar and grill's so, so much better than it has to be. An honest to god real jukebox spins a connoisseur's blend of metal, blues and classic rock. Never too crowded, there's almost always a pool table open, drinks are stiff and reasonably priced with bizarre daily specials likely invented that morning, and the patrons - a blend of blue collar types and aging hippies dotted with those laborer bohemians peculiar to the area - couldn't be friendlier. Though the live music nights are infrequent (usually only one Friday or Saturday per month), the line-up is often a choice selection of the local creme de la creme, usually with a metal bent. Full menu served 3pm-10pm, bar menu served until close. Open at 3pm-2:30am everyday. Open 362 days a year - closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.

Plan B - Portland, OR
BarFly's Review of Plan B
Located in the spot that once housed Acme. While the new management initially got off to a shaky start, it quickly re-established itself as a must visit Portland staple. A variety of acts grace the stage, from rockabilly to techno. HUGE partially covered, semi-heated, patio (great for smoking cigarettes).

Slabtown - Portland, OR
BarFly's Review of Slabtown
You gotta love a bar whose softball team is "The Fighting Sea Cows." Divey lounge opens up garage-style to the front sidewalk, allowing for easy communing with the smokers in constant assemblage on the sidewalk. Sweet game room in the back, laden with a ping pong table and eight pinball machines - no coincidence, as among the new owners are the big brains behind "Multiball", renowned pinball zine. Eclectic live music line-up trends toward garage rock & punk (live music Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Cover usually <$8.). Outstanding "real" CD jukebox.
